Hello there! Has any of you got the passport in Luxembourg? I am finally traveling to Lux next month. I will be there for two weeks. Does anyone know how long it takes for the passport to be ready? Thank you.

Flavia,
I, too, was wondering this exact same thing. It would be great to hear from anyone who has actually applied for their passport in Luxembourg.

My advise, do not get only a passport, but get an ID card as well! For non-resident, this is also possible, you should request it there: Centre des technologies de l'information de l'Etat ( www.guichet.public.lu/citoyens/fr/actualites/2014/06/18-carte-identite/index.html ) They say that you can take an appointment or go directly there. If I were you I'd take an appointment explaining your case. This way you would have both documents! In everyday life, an ID is more convenient than a passport!

I think, too, that an ID card will always be more helpful in daily administrative or business transactions; like for arranging the payment of bills, banking or using government services. Anyway, good suggestion, and thank you for the link!

Thank you Seblux. I'll get the ID as well.
By the way, how about you giving me some ideas of things to do in Luxembourg? I mean, not the touristic sights, these I can check online or in a guide... but some ideas from a resident... how could I feel how the life of a luxembourgish is daily? I am going now not just to get the passport and ID.. I'll check if I really like the country.. visit the cities so that I can move there in July/August with family and pets.
Thank you.

Luxembourg is a very multicultural city, you probably will hear more English and French than Luxembourgish there! However I would suggest you go to small villages and simply talk to people, tell them your story! Chances are they will love to hear your love about their/your country! If you stay 2 weeks you will have enough time to get a full picture of the country! Hope you enjoy!

I will visit Luxembourg in the summer and would like to apply for a passport while I am visiting. I will be in Europe for about 2 - 3 weeks, so I hope that is long enough to finally receive the passport when it is ready.
But as a non-resident of Luxembourg, where can I go to apply for my Luxembourg passport? Can we go to the Bierger Centre to apply for it?
Thanks.

Hi William, you will need to apply at the passport office, look it up on Google.

Hey Flavia, I was there earlier this year and was pleasantly surprised by who easy it was to get around the country driving(definitely get a car with GPS). I would recommend visiting a few castles-luxembourg is apparently known as the land of a hundred and one castle's there are so many! Also I wish I had spent time visiting the moselle river area-it seems really pretty and there are some great vineyards there:) Good luck and have a fun trip!
