Hallo,
Newbie here. Am very excited to start this process! After reading through all the threads I've still a few questions. Hopefully by posing them here all in one place it will also be a useful summary for others.
(1) I come from an all male patrilineal line: me, father (F), grandfather (G), great-grandfather(GG). Is it correct that for Phase 1, I only need birth, marriage, death for GG, birth and marriage for G, birth and marriage for F, birth for me (since unmarried)? I ask as there seemed to be some conflicting info on whether birth, marriage certificates are required for the spouses as well (e.g. In my case, mom, grandma, great-grandma.)
(2) A few people have indicated that they applied together with other relatives and there was no need to send duplicate birth/marriage/death certs. My brother and I would like to apply together so I just wanted to confirm this is correct.
(3) Finally, I just also wanted to confirm that for Phase 1, none of the docs need to be translated? Only Phase 2 requires translations?

1) your line is the same as mine, although I included some marriage and extra certificates since I had 2 patrilineal lines that had Luxembourgers in 1900, it was overkill. Again I'll stress that it is probably a good idea to call the lux nationality infoline to get more of an official answer, but the certificates you mentioned should be fine. I would even be tempted to say that you don't need the marriage certificates, since your family name should be the same as GGF, and all the fathers should be named on the birth certificates so that should prove the lineage. Again the marriage certificates is playing it safe. In your case i'm pretty sure you do not need the certificates for the females.
2) If you want to apply with your brother, either send them both at the same time and you only need to include one copy of all the certificates you have in common, you will obviously need each of your own birth certificates and letter of request. If you don't send them at the same time then whomever sends their request last can just put in a note to say to reference the application of the brother for all supporting certificates and documents.
3) confirmed - translation is just in Phase 2.

Hi twoj! Thanks so much for your response. I will definitely also confirm with the info hotline before sending our packet and then post back what they say for future reference. I just wanted to make sure we were on the right track (and it sounds like we are.)
I think in one of your other postings you mentioned a form letter Trevor had crafted that could be used for Phase 1. Do you know how I might possibly obtain a copy of it? I think it would be very helpful to use the same version others have.
