So who here received their citizenship in 2016?
I'm curious to know how many people on this forum were granted citizenship this year using Article 29. It seems like the board has died down a little bit compared to the activity here in 2015. Also, does anyone know the final deadline for submitting Article 29 citizenship applications? I thought that I'd read that it was 2018. If so, when in 2018?

I think i will be the class of 2017, unless Luxembourg is processing the demands faster. I agree about the traffic - but its normal, people are graduating and they move on to the next objectives, this board does have a limited lifetime, by 2019 the information here will likely not be useful.
The deadline is Dec 31, 2018 - as of today (2016-Oct-26) you have 796 days to submit phase 2, with an estimated 6 months (180 days) to submit phase 1 and get your Certificat Relatif à l'Aïeul Luxembourgeois, so roughly 600 days before you need to submit phase 1, if you really want to gamble.
what stage are you at?

I'm done. Received it in 2015.
Only 3 Canadians received citizenship under Article 29 last year. It seems not many Canadians are seeking to re-claim Luxembourg citizenship. It also seems that there are not a ton of Luxembourg families in Canada, most went to the U.S. and even Brazil from what I have read.
Yeah, the forum here has died down. People get the info, apply and then move on. Yup. By 2019, this forum will no longer be relevant.

Hi Christophe
Are you Canadian? I think most Luxembourgers wisely decided to head more south when they immigrated. There can't be too many lux people in Canada since for any true consulate stuff we need to go to the consulate in Washington, DC.
maybe in 2019 there might be some useful stuff on passports/services/etc - but then the board would need to change to more like those expat sites - not sure trevor wants to do that.

Yup. Have not lived there in many years, howver. I can't stand it now, actually. I do not like the society - the feminism, multiculturalism and mass third-world immigration. The Chinese are now the new land-owning class in Vancouver. I doubt that I'll ever go back. Canada is great if you are female, a visible minority or gay / transgendered. But for white, cisgendered males, forget it. The game is rigged.

Theres also very many people from this forum who now communicate with each other over our Facebook page now. It's a lot quicker and easier to communicate with. Could also be part of the reason this has died down a lot.
