Hello everyone!

I'm Wallace Entringer and I am Brazilian. I have discovered that I am descendent of two Luxembourg families: Entringer and Simmer.
It has been very difficult to find the documents I need to provide in order to obtain the Luxembourg Citizenship. Although I would be very proud to say I am also a Lux. Citizen, the reality is that it will be quite difficult to prove that I have this right due to a series of mistakes made by the registers officers in Brazil years ago. However, I still want to know my family deeper because I am a passionate about genealogy and family history.

The problem I am facing now is that I don't know how to request the birth and marriage certificates of my great-grandparents from the cities they lived in. I already have all information about these docs because I found browsing Luxroots.com, but I don't know how to get a hold of Luxembourg's Registers Officers. I've sent some e-mails in English but I don't think they were happy with that... hahahahaha....

Any tips?

Usually English is understood, but if you need it translated in French I could help you

My ancestor married in Brazil and I found the birth and marriage certificates in churches (Paróquias de Rio Negro e Lapa/PR). But the birth certificate of the immigrant, I had to look through old books that are digitalized online. The same books have records of death and marriages. I guess it was here: familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/Luxembourg_Civil_Registration

Don't worry about the mistakes that the registry offices commited here in Brazil. On the death certificate of my ancestor it was written he was from Germany and I thought everything was lost. Count on me. I can help you. Do you know the blog cidadanialuxemburguesa.blogspot.com? It also helps a lot. If you still carry the family name, I believe you will have yourt certificat de nationalité faster than you imagine. Just have to find these certificates.

I'm here just to say that I finally got an answer from Manternach! They will send me the documents I requested!

I followed some advices given by Flavia and used Google Translator to translate my e-mail from English to French.

I would like to thank you all. I will wait the certificates arrive by mail, once they arrive I'll let you guys know.

I am having trouble getting a reply to my inquiries. I wrote once in French, and then again in English a week later.

Did you contact the Bureau of Population when you made your request?

I went one step further when I made my requests. I contacted a specific person within the Bureau of Population.

It looks like Marc FLies or Yves Molitor would your specific contacts.

I tried to copy and paste web addresses for you here, but nothing is pasting.

Definitely write to them in French. They have a fax number and an online form you can fill out.
