Hi, I am gathering documents together for Phase 1. I'm wondering if I can simply use birth certificates, and not also marriage and death certificates. In other words, my 2 Luxembourg grandparents' birth certificates, my mother's birth certificate, and my birth certificate?
Are marriage AND death certificates actually required? Both of these for all people? Or are they just alternative documentation for the birth certificates, which do contain parental information.
As a further issue, and one reason to be concerned about sending death certificates, my grandfather's death certificate lists him as having been born in Germany.
Thanks, Mel

Must have marriage certificates for all. And, must at least have the death certificate for the ancestor who came over from Luxembourg. (You need to prove he was alive past 1900).
Some say you need all death certificates. Others say you don't.

The only death certificate I was asked to send in was that of my great grandfather whom I was using as the ancestor that had citizenship before and after 1 Jan 1900.

Obviously, if not married, a marriage certificate cannot be provided. But, the parents' names need to be on the birth certificate.
